Bodegas Murviedro’s Sericis Old Vine Bobal 2021 comes off the sun‑drenched, chalk‑and‑clay slopes of Medio Día, where old vines give tiny but intensely flavoured yields. The fruit is destemmed, gently pressed and left to macerate slowly at controlled temperatures before slipping through malolactic and settling into new French Allier oak for eight months. That combination of low‑vigour soils, big diurnal swings and careful élevage sets the stage for a wine with real depth and definition. In the glass, it opens with a surge of dark fruit and subtle spice—plum, bramble and a flicker of peppery lift. The palate is structured and confident, the toasty oak folded neatly around chunky yet well‑knit tannins. There’s plenty of fruit intensity to keep everything in balance, giving the wine both heft and harmony. A bold, characterful Bobal that wears its old‑vine pedigree with style. Bodegas Murviedro
