Merchant's description

Drouhin-Laroze Bonnes-Mares 1996 is a full-bodied Burgundy red wine from the Grand Cru climat of Bonnes-Mares in the Chambolle-Musigny appellation of the Côte de Nuits. Based in the heart of Gevrey-Chambertin, Domaine Drouhin-Laroze has one of the most impressive portfolios of Premier and Grand Cru sites in the Côte de Nuits. This Grand Cru Bonnes-Mares is from 1996, one of the best vintages of the 1990s, which produced Pinot Noirs with bright acidity, excellent fruit concentration and firm structure promising excellent ageing potential. "A largely mature nose of mostly secondary yet quite fresh aromas still displays some red berry fruit that slides into intense, delicious and detailed middle weight flavours that offer good complexity on the attractively long but mildly drying finish. I would be inclined to be drinking this now and over the next decade because while the wine will easily be capable of aging for a long time, I fear that it risks drying out with too much bottle age." Burghound, 2009
