The Cakebread Dancing Bear Ranch 2014 is a Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant blend sourced entirely from the producer`s Dancing Bear Ranch estate vineyard on Howell Mountain. This vineyard, encompassing 29 acres on the mountain slopes, has rocky volcanic soils and an elevation range of 1,400 to 1,900 feet, which stresses the vines to produce concentrated fruit. The wine from the excellent 2014 vintage displays an extravagantly fragrant nose of ripe boysenberry, blackberry, black cherry and dark plum, accented by floral and forest floor spice. It is immensely rich and full-bodied on the palate, offering deep fruit flavours and a structure balanced by supple tannins, which leads to a long finish with notes of dark chocolate and mineral tones.
