Merchant's description

Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Located in the heart of the Pessac-Léognan area of the Bordeaux wine region, Château La Garde has been part of the Maison Dourthe since 1990. The estate's vineyards span over 52 hectares in a single plot in the municipality of Martillac, and benefit from a very varied terroir (27 different types of soil, with veins of clay and sand) which guarantees the production of a harmonious and elegant wine. Chateau La Garde is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon in almost equal parts with a small addition of Petit Verdot. After fermentation, the wine is aged in French oak barrels, one-third of which are new. The wine reveals a deep and brilliant red color with some shades tending towards purple. Its aromatic profile is deliciously fruity with notes of ripe strawberry and dark plum, currants, and other wild berries followed by hints of tobacco and sweet spices. On the palate, it is fresh and exuberant, juicy and intense, warm and soft. It has a good structure and marked fine tannins. The finish is long with a slightly spicy aftertaste. Try it with a rack of lamb or roast beef. It is also excellent with semi-hard cheeses such as Gouda or Mimolette.
