Mounir and Rotem Saouma, of Burgundy producer Lucien Le Moine, have always had profound love for the Grenache variety and of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, and have slowly managed to acquire 21 acres of exceptional quality vines across all its 5 villages. Arioso comes from a tiny plot in the prime area of Pignan with vines planted in the 1930s and is made from 100% Grenache. The 2016 release is a supreme release of profound depth and precision. Wave upon wave of complex fruit glides across the palate, carried on a fine weave of tannin and enhanced by deep savoury nuances. Though amply rich it is never heavy, with a grace and understated power more akin to Grand Cru Burgundy.
