Chateauneuf du Pape Clos des Papes Magnum 2000 is a dry, full-bodied red from Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre (Châteauneuf-du-Pape, France), in the rich, smooth reds style. Tannins are moderate and acidity gentle; oak influence is little. Those scales describe the wine when young; this is a 26-year-old bottle and its tannin and oak will have softened. Good with lamb, roast vegetables, beef stew, barbecue.
