Chateauneuf du Pape Pignan 2004
750 ml Grenache Rhône, France 2004
Chateauneuf du Pape Pignan 2004 is a dry, very full-bodied red from Grenache (Châteauneuf-du-Pape, France), in the rich, smooth reds style. Tannins are moderate and acidity gentle; oak influence is little. Those scales describe the wine when young; this is a 22-year-old bottle and its tannin and oak will have softened. Good with lamb, roast vegetables, steak, beef stew.

Merchant's description
An estate with a formidable reputation for creating some of the world`s finest Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Until his death in 1997, the winemaking was overseen by the famous Jacques Reynaud who favoured the use of low-yielding Grenache vines to create fantastically rich, luscious wines. Chateau Rayas is now ably managed by Jacques` son Francois.
