Jules Métras Chiroubles Vieilles Vignes is a red Beaujolais from the Chiroubles cru village. The 2024 vintage utilises fruit from ancient vines planted on sandy, decomposed granite soils typical of this cru. Like his father Yvon, Jules employs a long, cold carbonic maceration to extract delicate aromatics and a silky texture. This wine avoids heavy-handed extraction, focusing instead on the bright, crunchy fruit profile of the Gamay grape. It displays notes of crushed strawberries, rose petals and a fine mineral spine. The lack of added sulphur allows the primary fruit to remain vivid and expressive on the palate.
