Clos du Clocher 1985 is a fully mature Right Bank Bordeaux from the Clos du Clocher estate located in the heart of Pomerol. The state was founded by wine merchant Jean-Baptiste Audy in 1924 and is now run by Audy`s great-grandson, Jean-Baptiste Bourotte. The blend for this cuvée is typically around 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc - the Merlot portion bringing roundness and depth; the Cabernet portion more elegance and finesse. Though frequently overshadowed by the 1982 and 1989 vintages, 1985 was a good year in Bordeaux. In particular, it produced excellent-quality Merlot - nowhere more so than in the appellation of Pomerol.
