Founded in 1872, Domaine Ponsot is a family-owned wine producer based in Morey-Saint-Denis. Most of its holdings are in grand cru and premier cru vineyards including the prestigious Clos de la Roche, Clos de Vougeot and Corton. This is the 2001 vintage of Ponsot’s Clos Saint Denis, Cuvée Vieilles Vignes. The nose is pronounced and luscious, suggesting dark chocolate, cherries, light spices and a distinctive earthiness. On the palate, the wine is equally dense, featuring raspberries, cherries, cacao nibs and a hint of vanilla.
