Merchant's description

Domaine Chandon de Briailles Corton Les Marechaudes 2016 is a medium-bodied Burgundy red wine from the Grand Cru climat of Les Marechaudes in the Corton commune of the Côte de Beaune. Domaine Chandon de Briailles is a historic wine estate situated in the north of the Côte de Beaune. This particular cuvée comes from Pinot Noir vines planted in 1975 in the Grand Cru of Les Marechaudes. The 2016 was fermented with about 80% whole bunches. "The 2016 Corton Les Marechaudes Grand Cru has a pretty nose of smudged cranberry and strawberry fruit, not the most delineated you will find in this vintage but there is decent vigour here. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, quite masculine and very linear. I would have liked more flesh to come through toward the finish. It feels a little short and the 80% whole bunch just juts out toward the finish. I will remain cautious with my assessment and cross my fingers that it develops more substance to balance the stem addition." Neal Martin, 2017
