Cossart Gordon Verdelho 1975 is a single-harvest Madeira from the Portuguese island of Madeira. Cossart Gordon & Co was established in 1745 and is the oldest company in the Madeira wine trade. This single-harvest Madeira from 1975 is made from Verdelho grapes and was aged for 29 years in seasoned American oak casks in the traditional ‘Canteiro’ system. The wine was bottled in 2004. Only 2,667 bottles were released. "Medium tawny/gold colour. Seems a bit flabby and displaying too much flat oxidation at first, and a teacake fruitiness only emerges reluctantly. The palate has a biscuity richness and quite a thick texture, with plenty of sweetness. There`s a lot of warmth and a Demerara sugar depth and toffeed sweetness here, but the grapefruity acidity is tangy and precise into the finish." Tom Cannavan, 2007
