Merchant's description

Cellar for up to 15 years. No need to decant before serving. This is a stunning Premier Cru Chardonnay, packed with scents of peach, nectarine, pear, grapefruit, and baking spice. It exhibits a beautiful light golden colour in the glass. The fruits were harvested from the Sous Frétille vineyard, which grows on the Corton-Charlemagne hill overlooking the scenic village of Pernand-Vergelesses. With a history of grape growing dating back almost 500 years, it’s safe to say that the Girard family have made their mark on Burgundy. Jean-Jacques and his son Victor, the current winemakers at the head of the family, have a wealth of winemaking knowledge to draw from. They craft a gorgeous range of wine from their headquarters in Savigny-Les-Beaune, surrounded by a 15-hectare patchwork quilt of top-tier Burgundy vineyards. This particular patch grows on white marl soil, which has proven to be an excellent foundation for quality Chardonnay. On the palate, Sous Frétille coats the tongue in zesty flavours of lemon and lime, with rich tones of green apple, woody spice, vanilla, and butter. There is a pure, cleansing minerality to be found on the finish. Consider pairing this expressive Chardonnay with creamy pasta, soft cheese, or chicken.
