Merchant's description

Dom Ruinart 1988 is a prestige cuvée blanc de blancs from one of the most successful vintages for Chardonnay in the 20th century. Sourced exclusively from Grand Cru vineyards in the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims, this Champagne underwent traditional fermentation and long maturation on lees. Now approaching 40 years of age, the profile is exceptionally complex, featuring notes of toasted hazelnuts, dried ginger, acacia honey and lemon curd. The 1988 vintage is celebrated for its searing acidity, which has acted as a preservative, maintaining a remarkable freshness and structural tension. It possesses a creamy mousse and a long, saline finish that highlights the chalky terroir of the region.
