Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant but best to open it half an hour before service. Located in the village of Maison-sur-Sèvre, at the northern tip of Brittany, Domaine de la Pépiere was founded in 1984 and today covers approximately 35 hectares, 30 of which are planted with white grapes. The winery embraces a philosophy of great respect for the terroir and cultivates its vineyards according to organic and biodynamic practices to allow the grapes to fully express the uniqueness of the terroirs of the Loire Valley. The Melon de Bourgogne grapes come from the Briords vineyard located in Château-Thébaud, on the banks of the Maine River, on sandy surface soils with a granite subsoil. The vines, over fifty years old, are grown organically and biodynamically. After manual harvesting and spontaneous fermentation in underground tanks, the finished wine rests on the lees for eight months. Domaine de la Pepiere Muscadet Sèvre et Maine Briords is a fresh, lively, and energetic wine that reveals a fragrant nose with notes of lemon and green apple, interspersed with mineral and saline sensations. On the palate, it is light and taut, dry and linear, with a thirst-quenching and precise finish. Its minerality and citrus character make it ideal with seafood, sushi, Pad Thai and goat cheese.
