Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant but best to open it half an hour before service. Located in Gevrey-Chambertin, in the heart of Burgundy, the Dugat-Py estate produces wines of the highest quality. Since 2003, the domain is certified organic. The vines are cultivated with the utmost care and come, for the vast majority, from old vines (65 years on average) in massal selection. Yields are therefore limited, to maximize concentration. Vinification is done according to traditional Burgundy methods with as little intervention as possible to create powerful wines that reflect the terroir they come from. Aging takes place in oak barrels and lasts between 14 and 18 months. This Pinot Noir is produced from vines that are about 35 years old and grow on clayey-limestone soils. The wine is aged for a period between 12 and 18 months in oak barrels, 10% of which are new. Domaine Dugat-Py's Bourgogne Rouge has a brilliant garnet red color. On the nose, it is powerful and complex with intense aromas of violets and blackcurrants, wild berries, and light smoky notes. On the palate, it is well structured and fresh with firm tannins that predict good aging capacity. The finish is elegant and persistent. Try it with truffle risotto or pork.
