Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Continuing a long family tradition dating back to 1500, Jean-Jacques Girard founded his winery in Savigny les Beaune, in the heart of Burgundy. The estate, which extends over 15 hectares of vineyards spread across the appellations of Savigny les Beaune, Aloxe Corton, Volnay, Pernand-Vergelesses, Pommard, and Beaune, is today managed by Jean Jacques with his son Vincent. Their approach to the vineyard reflects their enormous passion and respect for the environment and the pure expression of the terroir. After the harvest and traditional vinification, the finished wine rests for 15 months in oak barrels. The result is a refined and well-structured wine that can evolve beautifully for over a decade. Beaune Premier Cru Clos du Roi is a Pinot Noir with a clear and brilliant color and ruby tones. On the nose, it reveals a fragrant and fruity aromatic profile with notes of small red fruits, blueberries, fresh grapes, and light hints of tobacco in the background. On the palate, it is smooth, round, and medium-bodied with silky tannins and a long and elegant finish that recalls fruity notes. It is the ideal wine for game birds: try it with stewed pheasant, roasted partridge, or mallard.
