Drink it now or cellar for up to 20 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Located in Gevrey-Chambertin, Burgundy, since 1976, Domaine Philippe Leclerc extends across approximately 7.5 hectares cultivated using sustainable farming methods. Philippe Leclerc comes from a long-established family of winemakers and literally grew up among the vines, developing a passion for winemaking as a teenager. His wines are renowned for their great elegance, a pure expression of Burgundy's winemaking excellence. Pinot Noir grapes are sourced from the unique clay and limestone soils of the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation. This, combined with the cool, temperate climate typical of Burgundy, favors slow maturation, producing elegant, deep, and structured wines. After harvest, a cold maceration of approximately two weeks and fermentation, the finished wine rests in oak barrels (just over a third of which are new). Gevrey-Chambertin Les Platieres is a smooth, full-bodied wine that reveals a brilliant, deep ruby color in the glass. Its aromatic profile is broad and sophisticated, with notes of black cherry, ripe raspberry, cassis, and other small, dark berries, interspersed with hints of undergrowth, pepper, and leather. On the palate, it is dense and powerful, with fresh acidity and soft, ripe tannins. The finish is long and balanced. It is a wine that can age well for several years, or be enjoyed now with a rack of lamb with Provençal herbs, coq au vin, or grilled duck breast.
