Merchant's description

Drink it now or cellar for up to 20 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Domaine Saint-Marc is a historic French winery dating back to 1489, and is now managed by Arnaud Mitanchey. Located in the heart of Burgundy, the estate boasts approximately 8.5 hectares of vineyards spread across some of the region's most prestigious appellations. The Chardonnay grapes are selected and hand-picked from a vineyard located just below the village of Meursault, next to Château de la Velle. Here, the vines—half of which are approximately 60 years old, while the rest are younger—benefit from an exceptional terroir characterized by deep clay-limestone soils. After vinification, approximately two-thirds of the finished wine ages in barriques (30% new) and the remainder in stainless steel for one year before blending and bottling. Meursault Sous la Velle is an elegant wine with a broad and complex aromatic profile that opens with notes of white and tropical fruit, hints of acacia blossoms, and hazelnut, against a buttery background. On the palate, it is generous, round, and balanced, with a pleasant acidity that adds freshness and a distinctive minerality that lingers on the long finish. It is quite versatile when paired with food: try it with roast turbot, Serrano ham, mushroom risotto, and aged goat cheese.
