The vibrant fruity flavours make it a great match for Argentina’s national dish, steak, although other great pairing options include barbecued ribs, tomato-based pasta dishes, or hard cheeses.

Merchant's description

Drink now or cellar for up to 8 years. No need to decant before serving. Argentina’s Calchaquí Valley is home to the world’s highest altitude vineyards and a handful of historic wineries like El Esteco which dates back to 1892. El Esteco's vineyards are situated at elevations of over 1800 metres above sea level, resulting in Malbec grapes with a unique and distinctive character. The wines here tend to be luscious and fruity, while also carefully balanced with freshness and smooth tannins thanks to the intense sunlight and cool nights. This enchanting cuvee is made from 100% Malbec grapes harvested from the winery's oldest vineyards which are over 50 years old. Once in the winery the grapes are carefully vinified and then aged in oak barrels for 12 months to add extra complexity and spiced hints. In the glass you can expect a generous, full-bodied wine with a deep ruby color and an intense aroma of dark fruits, such as blackberry and plum, along with notes of vanilla and spice. On the palate, it is rich and complex, with flavors of black cherry, chocolate, and tobacco. The vibrant fruity flavours make it a great match for Argentina’s national dish, steak, although other great pairing options include barbecued ribs, tomato-based pasta dishes, or hard cheeses.
