M Chapoutier Ermitage L`Ermite 2011 is a full-bodied, single-vineyard Syrah red wine from the Hermitage appellation of the northern Rhône Valley. Chapoutier is one of the biggest companies in the Rhône Valley acting both as a producer and a négociant, with activity across all of the major appellations. This wine is made from 100% Syrah from 80-year-old organically and biodynamically cultivated vines at the top of the Hermitage hill, in a plot called Ermite. "As expected, the 2011 Ermitage l`Ermite, which comes from the lieu-dit of the same name, is more backward and focused, with a slightly closed, tight profile. Slowly giving up ample cassis and black raspberry fruit, graphite, liquorice and edgy minerality, it is full-bodied, deeply concentrated and tannic, yet still never puts a foot wrong and is perfectly balanced and seamless.
