Ermitage Les Greffieux Chapoutier 2012 is a single-site Syrah, sourced from the Greffieux vineyards at the base of the Hermitage hill. The soils consist of glacial alluvial deposits, featuring a mix of shingles and clay. Hand-harvested, the grapes undergo destemming and are vinified in cement vats. A lengthy maceration promotes gentle tannin extraction, followed by aging for 14 to 18 months in a combination of new and previously used oak barrels. Michel Chapoutier, known for his biodynamic practices, leads this winery. Expect powerful tannins and liquorice-spiced fruits. Suitable for ageing up to 60 years.
