Etna Rosso Prephylloxera 2009 from Tenuta delle Terre Nere is a mature red wine from the volcanic soils of the northern slope of Etna. Sourced from ancient, ungrafted Nerello Mascalesse vines in the Calderara Sottana vineyard, the wine reflects an incredible concentration of fruit and site-specific energy. The 2009 vintage was warm, yielding a wine with ripe tannins and a succulent profile of black cherries, liquorice and exotic spices. Despite the ripeness, the wine maintains a firm mineral line and a smoky character that defines the estate’s style.
