Gevrey-Chambertin Aux Combottes 2005 from Hubert Lignier is a Premier Cru red from Gevrey-Chambertin. This vineyard is uniquely situated, surrounded on three sides by Grand Cru sites, which is reflected in the wine’s structural gravity and depth. The 2005 release offers a massive fruit core of black cherries and plums, supported by firm tannins and a persistent mineral line. Following the estate’s traditionalist approach, the wine underwent a long maturation in French oak, adding layers of sweet spice and cedar. After two decades, the tannins are beginning to resolve, revealing complex tertiary notes of leather, truffle and game.
