Having studied oenology in Bordeaux, Álvaro Palacios established his winery in Priorat back in 1989 with the aim of utilising fruit from extremely old, low-yielding vines and modern winemaking techniques to create world-class wines truly expressive of their terroir. This cuvée represents his “village” red with fruit being sourced from several vineyards across the village of Gratallops. The 2016 is comprised of 85% Garnacha, 13% Cariñena and 2% white grapes, offering up wonderful open-knit texture and delicious notes of bright red fruits, wild anise-tinged herbs and cool, slatey minerality. This is a perfect example of high quality Priorat with excellent harmony of ripeness, structure, power and elegance.
