L`Eglise Clinet 2008 is a dry, very full-bodied red from Merlot, Cabernet Franc (Pomerol, France), in the rich, smooth reds style. Tannins are moderate and acidity moderate; oak influence is some. Under the skilful eye of late owner Denis Durantou since 1982, Château L`Eglise Clinet has become a key Pomerol estate, with 4.5ha of vines under production. Despite being a challenging vintage, the 2008 achieved great success, with voluptuous power and texture, rich plum, liquorice and cassis notes. As per Robert Parker in 2011 " Opulent, expansive, and savory, with a broad texture, a full-bodied mouthfeel, terrific purity and a layered finish, this is another big, massive wine that transcends the vintage character, and will probably need 7-10 years of bottle age. It should keep for 20 or more years as well."
