Merchant's description

L`Eglise Clinet is a full-bodied Merlot-based red wine from the Pomerol appellation of Bordeaux. Sitting comfortably in the top echelon of Pomerol producers, Château L`Eglise Clinet is a modestly sized, 6ha estate managed with aplomb by Denis Durantou since 1985. Durantou is hugely respected winemaker-proprietor whose wines frequently rival those of the appellation`s most illustrious names. "The 2001 l’Eglise-Clinet is a wine that I have encountered many times both from bottle and magnum. It is a superb Pomerol with a crystalline bouquet that exudes pure red berry fruit laced with smoke and truffle, almost Burgundian in style with immense precision. The palate is medium-bodied with wonderful harmony and precision thanks to its filigree tannin. Such is the elegance on display here that it belies the power and length, ferrous notes, even a hint of curry leaf furnishing the finish. Superb." Neal Martin, 2019
