Le Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia is produced from the same varieties and with the same meticulous approach in the vineyard and cellar as Ornellaia. The estate describes it as a wine with its own distinctive identity, combining youthful vigour with the ability to develop with age. The 2024 is a blend of 49% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Petit Verdot and 13% Cabernet Franc. Following hand-harvesting and careful selection, each variety and parcel was vinified separately. The wine aged for around 15 months in barriques, comprising 30% new oak and 70% second- and third-use barrels, then spent six months in bottle before release. Deeply coloured with youthful purple hues, the 2024 opens with raspberry and redcurrant, accompanied by subtle floral and spice notes. The palate is vibrant and balanced, with notable density, elegant tannins and an enduring finish with a continuing echo of fruit.
