Since the Cazes family purchased the 5ème Cru Classé property of Château Lynch-Bages in 1988, it has seen considerable increases in quality and consistency, and is now regarded as one of the finest producers in Pauillac. The 2000 vintage is a classic blend of 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, offering a full-bodied yet delightfully silky profile, with wonderfully pure notes of cassis, mulberry, tobacco, cedar and graphite. Though now beginning to really hit its stride, this should still continue to evolve nicely over the next decade.
