Bio wine. Cellar for up to 8 years. Decanting time: will benefit from decanting. The biodynamic wine originating in South Tyrol from this 400 year old winery is cultivated in sandy, varied grain soils of dolomite, porphyry gneiss and granite composites situated at a superb 400-450 metres above sea level, bathed in ample sun and gentle breezes, which reduce the potential for the tight Pinot Noir grape clusters to rot with trapped moisture. Only the best barrels are used for the Mason. Glistening, brilliant ruby color. Soft, elegant aromas of wild berries, black pepper, forest floor and peppermint with hints of rose petals and licorice. The ripe, spicy berry nose is consistent with the elegant and intensely pure palate. This succulent wine flows seamlessly and combines ripe tannins with a tightly woven, well-balanced delivery with a hint of oak to round out the texture. The wine is fragrant and linear with an impressive equilibrium that produces endless complexity. Its gentle, sophisticated structure carries through to a long, fine mineral finish. Serve with grilled or roasted meats, game, root vegetables and soft ripened cheese. Also delectable on its own. A young vintage can be enjoyed early with decanting, and cellar aged offerings mature gracefully, revealing an exquisite delicateness. A “grand cru from a grand cru.” Aged for 12 months in 25% new barriques.
