Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. The Piedmontese winery Marengo boasts over a century of history and tradition, having been founded in 1899 in La Morra, in the Barolo wine district. Today, the company is led by Marco Marengo, the fourth generation of the family. The Nebbiolo grapes come from vineyards located in the prestigious Valmaggiore cru, in the Roero area, in the municipality of Vezza d'Alba. Here, the vines benefit from lighter soils, rich in fossils and with a good percentage of sand, capable of producing more delicate and subtle wines. After manual harvesting, the vinification takes place in stainless steel at a controlled temperature, and the wine ages in French oak for 12 months before bottling and a short period of rest in the bottle. Nebbiolo d'Alba Valmaggiore is an elegant and expressive wine that reveals a brilliant ruby color with subtle garnet hues. Its aromatic profile is fragrant and broad, with notes of raspberry and currant, interspersed with hints of dried flowers, medicinal herbs, and spicy touches. On the palate, it has a medium body and a good concentration of fruit. It is balanced and smooth, fresh and distinctive, with fine, well-integrated tannins and a long finish that lingers on notes of licorice and spice. It is a food-friendly wine: it pairs deliciously with roasted mushrooms, herb-roasted lamb, and pasta dishes with meat sauces.
