Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. The Produttori del Barbaresco wine cooperative was founded in 1958 by Don Fiorino Marengo to revive Domizio Cavazza's 1894 project for the production of Barbaresco. Today, the cooperative brings together over 50 winemaking families and over 120 hectares of vineyards located between 220 and 320 meters above sea level, including several Crus. In addition to Barbaresco, the company has been producing a Nebbiolo wine from younger vineyards since 1975. The Nebbiolo grapes are sourced from several vineyards with varying exposures, planted on calcareous-clayey soils. After harvesting and fermenting in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, the finished wine rests in oak barrels for 4 months before bottling. In the glass, the wine reveals an intense and clear ruby red color with garnet highlights. Its aromatic profile releases ripe notes of red fruit, interspersed with aromatic herbs and spices on a floral undertone. On the palate, it is fresh and balanced, with a medium body and firm, integrated tannins. It is an easy-drinking Nebbiolo that showcases the versatility of this exceptional grape variety. The finish is long and pleasantly fruity. Try it with lasagna Bolognese, pasta amatriciana, or goulash.
