Masseto 2000
Masseto 2000 is a dry, full-bodied red from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sangiovese (Super Tuscan, Italy), in the full, structured reds style. Tannins are firm and acidity fresh; oak influence is noticeable. Those scales describe the wine when young; this is a 26-year-old bottle and its tannin and oak will have softened. Good with steak, lamb, roast chicken, roast pork. Organic farming is mentioned by the merchant.

Masseto 2000 is the iconic single-vineyard Merlot-based Tuscan red wine of Tenuta dell`Ornellaia in Bolgheri. Masseto is produced from an organically farmed 8ha vineyard characterised by distinctive blue-grey clay soils reminiscent of those found at Château Petrus in Pomerol, thus earning this wine the soubriquet `the Italian Petrus`.
