Merchant's description

Comtes Lafon Monthélie Les Duresses 1996 is a medium-bodied Burgundy red wine from the Premier Cru climat of Les Duresses in the Monthélie appellation of the Côte de Beaune. With a rich history that goes back to the 1860s, Domaine des Comtes Lafon is a well-established wine producer based in Meursault. The estate is currently managed by fourth-generation family member Dominique Lafon, who inherited the winery from his father Réné in the mid-1980s. On the mature 1996 Monthélie Les Duresses. "The ruby-coloured Monthélie Les Duresses displays a mouth-watering nose of violets and candied blueberries, followed by a deep, well-crafted, medium-bodied, and magnificently sweet core of cassis, blackberries, minerals, and metals. This fabulous Monthélie possesses a luscious and long finish with none of the harshness/astringency often associated with this village`s wines." Wine Advocate, 1998
