Cellar for up to 5 years. No need to decant before serving. This plush southern Rhone red opens with inviting aromas of red plums, strawberries and dried violets, while the palate offers a silky smooth mouthfeel, soft tannins and intense crushed red berry and sweet spice flavours. The long finish and fruit-forward character make this an excellent accompaniment for charcuterie and hard cheeses as well as grilled red meats. The Mordoree estate was established in 1986 by Francis Delorme and his son Christophe in the southern part of the Rhone Valley. The domaine takes its name from the humble woodcock bird, reflecting Mordoree’s philosophy of working in harmony with nature to produce sensational wines. Today the domaine is run by Christophe’s wife and daughter who try to produce the best wines possible from their vines while preserving the estate in perfect condition ready for the next generation to inherit. The 50 hectares of vines are farmed organically and the family also follows biodynamic principles in the vineyard and winery. This delicious red is composed of Grenache and Syrah grapes which are carefully harvested by hand from the family’s 40 year old vines. In the winery the grapes are vinified in stainless steel tanks to showcase the pure varietal character of the Grenache and Syrah in the finished wine.
