Patagonia’s Otronia estate sits at the extreme edge of viticulture, buffeted by the “45 Rugientes” (Roaring 45s) winds that define this remote corner of Chubut. The project is built around precision farming in a brutally cool, wind‑scoured landscape, where low yields, slow ripening and intense natural acidity shape a very particular style of Pinot Noir. It’s one of the southernmost vineyards on the planet, and the wines lean into that sense of isolation and purity. The 2021 Pinot Noir is taut, aromatic and quietly powerful, opening with wild raspberry, cranberry and redcurrant, layered with rose petal, dried herbs and a cool graphite edge. The palate is finely etched and linear, driven by brisk acidity and firm, wind‑polished tannins that give the wine its distinctive structure. Red fruit stays crunchy and precise, the savoury notes build gently, and the finish is long, mineral and slightly saline. A focused, high‑latitude Pinot that thrives on tension rather than opulence.
