Château Léoville Poyferré uses younger vines to produce Pavillon de Leóville Poyferré, a terroir-driven second wine which perfectly reflects the character of the limestone soils so suited for Bordeaux grape varieties. The blend is mainly composed of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with a much smaller proportion of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Wooden barrels previously used for one or two wines allow the intensity of the fruit to shine. An excellent introduction to this superb Château.
