Peter Michael Winery was founded by British businessman Sir Peter Michael in the early 1980s with a singular vision. "to make wine in the terroir-driven tradition of Burgundy and Bordeaux, under the California sun and in California soil". Consistency and quality are the principles here – the wines are clearly inspired by the poise and precision of their Old World counterparts but can`t help expressing an edge of Californian richness. Ma Belle-Fille was named as a tribute to Sir Peter’s daughter in law, mother of the third generation of the family. The fruit hails from the highest elevation on the estate, with cooling ocean influences. 2014, a varied vintage resulted in a lower yield but much concentration. The wine showcases a ripe citrus and peach characteristics, with honey and almond, complemented by an underlying minerality.
