Merchant's description

Product Information Country Italy Region Piedmont Grape Variety Barbera Vintage 2020 ABV 15 % Discover the exquisite Prunotto Costamiole Nizza Riserva 2020, a premium Italian red wine crafted in the renowned Piedmont region. This Nizza DOCG Riserva is made from carefully selected Nebbiolo grapes, showcasing the true essence of traditional Italian winemaking. Vintage Overview: The 2020 vintage experienced a mild winter with balanced precipitation, followed by an early spring with dry, sunny weather encouraging even vine growth. Despite rainy periods in May and June slowing development, optimal groundwater levels prevented summer water stress. September's ideal conditions, with warm days and cool nights, ensured perfect grape ripening. Harvested between September 13th and 21st, these grapes capture the finest flavours of the season. Winemaking Process: After careful destemming and crushing, the grapes underwent gentle maceration with two daily pump-overs at temperatures below 30°C (86°F) to extract full-bodied flavours. The wine was aged 12 months in new French oak barriques, followed by an additional year of bottle ageing to develop complexity and depth. Tasting Notes: This Nizza Riserva displays an intense ruby red colour with vibrant purple highlights. Aromas of ripe cherries, blackberries, and plums intertwine with warm notes of vanilla, cinnamon, and liquorice. On the palate, expect a rich, velvety texture with a well-structured yet elegant and harmonious finish, a perfect balance of opulence and finesse. Perfect For: • Lovers of full-bodied Italian red wines • Pairing with rich meats, aged cheeses, and hearty pasta dishes • Collectors seeking premium Piedmont wines with exceptional ageing potential. The Prunotto estate is situated in Alba , a renowned wine town in the Langhe area of Piedmont, Italy, positioned strategically between the famous Barbaresco and Barolo wine-producing zones. Located on the right bank of the Tanaro River, the estate rests on gentle plains surrounded by some of the most prestigious vineyards in the Langhe and Roero wine territories. The landscapes around Alba are breathtaking, featuring softly rolling hills and small sloping valleys blanketed with rows of carefully tended vineyards known for producing high-quality Nebbiolo, Barbera, and Dolcetto grapes. Attracted by the exceptional natural beauty, unique vineyard terroir, and diverse soil composition of this centuries-old winemaking region, the historic Antinori family invested their time and expertise into developing the Prunotto estate. Their dedication helped establish Prunotto as one of the leading Piedmontese wineries, celebrated for producing premium Langhe DOC and DOCG wines that reflect the rich tradition and distinctive character of this prestigious Italian wine region.
