Tua Rita Redigaffi 1996 is a statement Tuscan Merlot from the Tua Rita estate in Livorno, on the coast south of Bolgheri. High-density planting of the vines ensures the low yields that give the estate Merlot grapes such concentration of flavour. In the cellar, winemaker Luca D`Attoma uses extended maceration to optimise colour, flavour and tannic structure. The wine is matured for up to 16 months in fine Burgundy oak barrels. "A Tuscan rendition of a top-growth St-Emilion. Fabulous aromas of currant, lead pencil and raspberry. Full-bodied, beautifully crafted, with polished tannins and a long mint, berry and cherry finish." James Suckling
