The La Rioja Alta S.A 904 Rioja Gran Reserva 'Selección Especial' is a multi-award winning wine that, for the first time in the nearly 120 years this wine has been produced, has been designated ‘Selección Especial’. The term is only ever used by La Rioja Alta when the vintage and thus the wine, reach such an extraordinary height, it needs recognition and having delayed its release for over a year this vintage is certainly one not to be missed, it displays great aromatic complexity, with notes of wild strawberry, red cherry, plum, blackberry and cranberry combined with aromas of tobacco, brioche, ground coffee, caramel, cedar and cinnamon blossom. The alcohol and acidity are elegantly balanced on the palate and its polished, gentle tannins and freshness provide a smooth and refined mouthfeel. Fine, delicate and very long aftertaste, that will continue to be rounded with time in the bottle, making this new Gran Reserva 904 a wine with great cellaring potentia
