Romanée-Saint-Vivant is a Grand Cru neighbour of La Tâche and Romanée-Conti, and Domaine Follin-Arbelet`s small half-hectare holding (the Poisot plot of his wife`s family ) produces wines of real intensity. The 2010 shows wonderful aromatic lift and a super-complex texture, with black cherry, spice and mineral notes framed by a restrained, almost Cistercian elegance rather than raw power. 2010 was an excellent, classic red Burgundy vintage, giving wines with fine acidity and structure built to last. Silky tannins and impressive length suggest this will reward patient cellaring for years.
