Sassicaia 1999
Sassicaia 1999 is a dry, full-bodied red from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sangiovese (Super Tuscan, Italy), in the rich, smooth reds style. Tannins are moderate and acidity fresh; oak influence is noticeable. Those scales describe the wine when young; this is a 27-year-old bottle and its tannin and oak will have softened. Good with lamb, mushroom risotto, steak, roast chicken.

Sassicaia 1999 is a full-bodied, mature Supertuscan wine that presents a distinctive profile characterised by aromas of blackcurrant, cedar and a hint of graphite. The palate showcases a full-bodied structure with firm, velvety tannins and balanced acidity. The finish is noteworthy for its lingering notes of dark fruit and a subtle herbal quality. Produced by Tenuta San Guido, Sassicaia was among the first Italian wines to receive the prestigious DOC status, in 1994. This vintage pairs effectively with rich dishes like braised lamb shank or earthy mushroom risotto.
