From Bouchard`s historic Volnay Les Caillerets parcel, the House`s first-ever vineyard purchase bought from the Carnot family in 1775, this 100% Pinot Noir shows the cooler, more structured character of the excellent 2019 vintage. Expect a bright cherry hue, a spicy, mineral-edged nose of raspberry and clove, and a punchy, sleek palate with real drive and a firm, long finish. Unusually generous for young Volnay, it still has a stern backbone that points to real ageing potential, ideally a decade in bottle before drinking through the mid-2030s. Try with duck breast or veal.
