Jean Grivot Vosne-Romanée Les Rouges 2009 is a mature-vintage red Burgundy from the Premier Cru climat of Les Rouges in the Vosne-Romanée commune of the Côte de Nuits. Jean Grivot is one of the great names of Vosne-Romanée winemaking. Winemaking is now increasingly overseen by Mathilde, daughter of Étienne and Marielle. Meticulous work in the vineyard is aimed at producing fruit of impeccable quality. In the cellar, the fruit is completely destemmed following a pre-ferment cold maceration for around one week. The wines are matured in oak barrels for 15-20 months (up to 40% new for the domaine`s best wines). "High toned and pure with bright spicy glints. This is tight, mineral and light, but intense. It is a leanish for the vintage, but piquant, vivacious. Zesty acidity. Mineral chalkiness. A straight, surprisingly powerful and pure finish. There is drive on the finish. Particularly good+ to fine" Sarah Marsh MW
