Domaine Jean Grivot Vosne-Romanee Les Rouges 2012 is a mature Burgundy red wine from the Premier Cru climat of Les Rouges in the Vosne-Romanée commune of the Côte de Nuits. Jean Grivot is one of the great names of Vosne-Romanée winemaking. Winemaking is now increasingly overseen by Mathilde, daughter of Étienne and Marielle. Meticulous work in the vineyard is aimed at producing fruit of impeccable quality. In the cellar, the fruit is completely destemmed following a pre-ferment cold maceration for around one week. The wines are matured in oak barrels for 15-20 months (up to 40% new for the domaine`s best wines). "The 2012 Vosne-Romanée Les Rouges bristles with pure energy and tension. Dark red cherry, crushed rocks, graphite and new leather burst onto the palate in a wine that impresses for its sense of energy and sense of direction. The 2012 boasts fabulous balance from start to finish. Frankly, it is hard to put the glass down. The Rouges is pure excitement in the glass." Vinous, 2014
