Located in the renowned Kakheti wine region of Georgia, Winiveria was founded by George Piridashvili in the early 2000s, in the wake of the Georgian wine market revival. The company aims to produce high-quality wines using indigenous grape varieties and traditional techniques, but with a modern approach, to promote the great value of Georgian wines worldwide. Grapes are sourced through collaboration with local winemakers. The wine is produced with selected Aleksandrouli grapes harvested from the Khvanchkara appellation, one of Georgia's most renowned, located in the Racha-Lechkhumi region. Here, the temperate climate protected by the Georgian mountains and clay soils create ideal conditions for quality viticulture and the pure expression of several indigenous and traditional grape varieties. The result is a characterful, balanced, and distinctive wine. The nose reveals a rich and broad aromatic profile with fragrant notes of red fruits such as strawberries and red berries, followed by hints of plums and raisins, over a background of marzipan, honey, and dried rose petals. On the palate, it is generous and rounded, with a medium body and a velvety texture. It is smooth, supple, and concentrated, with a long, fruity finish that reveals a hint of sweetness. Try it with medium-aged cheeses and spicy cured meats.
