Château Ausone sits in the highest possible quality tier in Saint-Émilion - Premier Grand Cru Classé ‘A’. The vineyards are a mixture of sand, clay and limestone and total around 17 acres, split 50/50 with plantings of Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Annual production is relatively small, around 2,000 cases only for the Grand Vin. The 1987 was a successful one for Château Ausone and resulted in a wonderful rich and fruity wine with a beautiful mineral streak. A rarely seen vintage just waiting to be discovered!
