The 1995 vintage in Bordeaux was marked by early flowering, and despite the long hot summer, there was no drought stress. Merlot and Cabernet Franc excelled on the Right Bank, giving rich, full-bodied wines such as this Gran Vin from Château Ausone. Lovely bouquet of redcurrants, plums, dark chocolate and sandalwood. Resolving, but still slightly firm tannins carry red fruits and earthy flavours. The wine is in its peak drinking window now.
