Aldo Conterno`s Colonnello is a single-vineyard Barolo from the Bussia cru in Monforte d`Alba, made entirely from Nebbiolo. The 2008 vintage produced classically structured, age-worthy wines, and this bottle should now show garnet hues, aromas of dried rose, tar and red cherry, with firm tannins softening into a long, savoury finish. Best served with braised beef, truffle risotto or aged Parmesan. A serious, traditional Barolo for drinking now or over the next decade.
